This is the best navigation device that I have ever had. Recently took a trip and used this device for the entire trip. It consistently found the best routes and the shortest times around traffic jams. I used the rest stop timer option and found it to be a very nice reminder to take a break every so often. It was very accurate and got us to every place that we programed. Very nice unit. Easy to use. Highly recommend.

TOM TOM HAS ONE OF THE BEST BRIGHTEST SCREENS WITH GOOD MAPS. BETTER THAN MY FRIENDS GARMIN. WHAT MAKES THIS A BUY IS THAT YOU GET FREE LIFETIME MAP UPGRADES. YES THIS MEANS YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY THE $40-50 FOR A YEARS WORTH OF MAPS LIKE ALL THE OTHER CCOMPANIES CHARGE. THIS MAKES THE TOM TOM NOT OBSOLETE IN A FEW YEARS

I am disappointed in this product. It’s difficult to program and it doesn’t warn you ahead of time of your next exit.

A nice display, with lots of useful and easily legible information. Lifetime map updates – a truly great option! It picks up the satellites quickly, and every time I’ve used the default settings for calculating a route, it has picked what seems to me to be the easiest, most logicle path. The mount is clever, although it takes a little getting used to. It does allow you to quickly dismount the unit withough removing the mount, and isn’t nearly as bulky as other mounts.

The only real issue I have with the unit is its lack of internal memory capacity, and the lack of a flash card slot. As posted previously, there are workarounds, but with memory as cheap as it is today, would it kill TomTom to put in another gig or two of memory?

Still, tough, for the money it’s hard to beat. I’ve had other brands (both “G” and “M”), and this seems to be at least equal in overall performance to them. Once you get used to the differences in the interface and menus, it’s easy and fairly intuitive to use.

I’d happily recommend this unit to a friend or relative.

Well I did not heed the warnings about downloading an updated map on my new TomTom GPS I got yesterday. It was not my fault though.

I called the company and a very pompous male told me that the people that don’t follow instructions “screw up the memory and then blame the GPS”.

I started at 8 PM last night to download the new updated map. Well at about 8:30 it seemed that the download froze. I called customer service and got a very friendly Nichole. She had me delete and add files till I was dizzy. Then said good night as the very slow download process was happening. At about 10:30 PM the screen finally said the download was complete. I boldly clicked on the GPS to be greeted with “NO MAPS FOUND”.

A call to the company today got a new lady who checked out the application and said it was the wrong application that was loaded in the GPS. We downloaded the new version and then downloaded the map and finally after about 4 hours, I have the latest greatest map I think!!!

I agree that TomTom is very foolish not to warn you of the dangers of trying to download the updated map.
